I am a beginner on the 3x3, my time is 1:07:00, and I use a modified version of the basic 7-step method given in the manual that comes with most Rubik's cubes. I have been stuck with my current record time for about a month, and I can't find any ways to improve. I tried learning Fridrich and Petrus, but they seem too complicated.... Any hints? Also, does anyone have a link to a video about how to do fingertricks?

id recommend that video as well. also, while your on his page, search 2 look oll and 2 look pll. they are much easier to learn than full friedrich, but much faster than the beginners method.

http://cubefreak.net/speed/main.html - Macky states possible averages of 35s but it doesn't matter really, as long as you know what you're doing and get used to it.

By the way, Petrus is probably one of the most straightforward methods, only "turning the bad edges" may cause problems.

Use the U R' U' R fingertrick on the last face.that means if you start with green, do the last step on the blue face then do F or F' for the next corner.Get under a minute everytime then switch to the other methods.
OR
do the Beginners method all the way until the cross then do OLL and PLL.
My beginner PLL is when you get the blue top,Do R' D R' U2 R D' R' U2 R2 ON THE BLUE FACE until you get a swapping of three edges or a U perm.then do the alg.
I use this for quite some time and then switched to Full FRIDRICH.All i have mentioned will have to take some practice!
