How to improve Xcross-F2L transition (note that it doesn't end with a question mark)

I've been messing around with the new CCT lately, and I love it. And I discovered something that's probably already there in the old CCT, but I never noticed. I'd never know, because I've already deleted the old one :p

The 2x2x2 scrambles are all RUF 3-gens. That's good.

If you, like me, build your Xcross with a 2x2x2 block first, then insert the other 2 edges, then this is perfect. If I ever do an xcross (not that I do it very often), I'd almost always build the 2x2x2 block first, then insert the other 2 edges (unless there's a very obvious quicker solution). The problem with this is, I always get thrown off my rhythm because of the number of moves and number of cube rotations involved in building an xcross, and I always have this obscenely long lag time between Xcross and my first(second?) F2L slot, and so what's supposed to be faster ends up slower :(

After I've discovered this 3-gen scramble thingy, I've been toying around with it: getting a solved 2x2x2 block in BLD (silly pun intended) for every scramble, locating the other 2 edge pieces with ~3 seconds of inspection time, and looking for my first/second F2L pair while inserting the edges. I haven't been doing much of this, so I haven't seen a significant improvement yet, but I do believe that it can help with the Xcross-F2L lag time, yeah. And it can probably benefit Petrus users as well, for those who have a 2x2x2-2x2x3 lag time?
