I got my square-1 today and all the vids tell me to get it to some specific pattern and that its really intuitive. They make around 3 moves and they have it. I can't seem to get it and only have just by turning randomly :D. Are there any other ways to get it to the cube shape that aren't involving algorithms that are easy? lol

Get all the smaller parts (edges) together on the same face all beside each other , then turn it so that you have 4 on the top face and 4 on the bottom. Line up each of those faces so you half both the edges again. Now you line up one set of edges to the slice line, but with the other face you line up the corners. From here it's a case of turning both faces 90 degs and turning once more.

There may be an occasion where the centre isn't square. If this is the case, do a slice, turn one of the faces 180 degs, do another slice, turn the face 180 degs again, and you should be square.

@tkcube1, I am slow at restoring it back into cube shape because I still do it somewhat intuitively (through past experiences). Generally I try to group together all the small 30 degree pieces as much as I can onto one side to reach Pair 0 or Pair 4, as shown at http://www.alchemistmatt.com/cube/square1list.html . Experience will later help you remember a few more patterns so restoring to cube shape will be easier for you.

Elimescube on YouTube. Learned Sq-1 with ease and memo'd all the algs (not including parity) in a few hours.

Do you mean http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bxZ13MHX8E4
? I subscribed, and am looking at that now.

EDIT: Watched it. Yes, I like the "return to cube shape" section, and was surprised to see my intuition was very similar to his. I suspect the solving methods after that can differ -- at least mine do.
