How old were you when you started cubing?

I suppose this is a kind of "everyone can post for the heck of it" sort of thread? :P

I started when I was 15, and I am 17 now. Isn't that just so typical.

i was 6 years old and first solved it at 7. im 14 now and i still dont consider myself a speed cuber because my fastest time is 42.25 sconds

Well, I solved it for the first time about 3 years ago and I did have one as a kid but never solved it. Was given one on my 24th birthday, am now 25 and 1 month, got really interest then. So hard to say, but i would say 24 is when i started.
edit: I also got a rubiks clock when i was really young (~ 8) and did manage to solve that

I started last year 36 and a few months ago learned the F2L and 2-look OLL/PLL. I do not get to cube consistently due to work and other busy life duties however, this week I finally started getting under the 1 minute mark.
I think of speedcubers as those who are faster than 30 seconds and the elite as those under 20 seconds. I would like to get to the 30 second mark but I do not see that happening without consistent practice and more time cubing.
The most important thing for me is fun...I enjoy cubing!

I was 22, when the cube was just released. Played with it for a year or two. Was so happy to break the 2 minute barrier. Forgot about it until my daughter gave one to me a few years ago. Don't think I'll ever give it up again...

I was 9, when I was in 3rd or 4th grade.
I am 16 right now, my personal best for 2x2 is 5.41 sec. now.

I started when I was 12, and I'll be 15 in a week.

So, technically I've been cubing about 2 1/2 - 3 years, but at least half of that time was spent not cubing. With school and life in general being evil, it makes it hard to focus on cubing, resulting in long breaks and terrible times. =\
