How much have spent on cubing

[Eric4112]

I'm just curious, how much money and time have you spent on this hobby? I'm talking about how much you spent on comp registration, buying cubes, plane tixs to go to comps, etc. I'll start:

Comps: 100$
Buying Cubes: 300$ Edit: ok now 400$
Time: A few years? 3 years?

(Im relativley new to cubing though, and just started actual speedcubing a few months ago)
(also I know there are 2 other threads about this, but thoses are outdated and its about how much you spent on cubes only.)

[....]

~2 years of cubing
Comps: around $310
Cubes: around $660
Mods (big cube coremag kits): around $60
Other cubing accessories (lubes, timers, etc.): around $135
in total, this equates to around $1165 sheesh
i already wasn't planning on buying any new cubes for like a year (big cube hardware when) but yeah

Including everything (I will make an actual calculation later) over 4000$ Im estimating, because I know Ive spent a good amount on cubes, and travel for championships isnt cheap

Since I’m not a cubing sweat, it’s…

Comps: $100-150
Buying Cubes: $300-400
Time: 2 years

[CubeLite]

Comps: 104$ registration fees + 190$ on transport
Buying Cubes: 450-500$
Accessories: 100$
Total: ~850$
Time: 2.5 years

Geez, that a lot

[EvanCuber1]

heres the exact amount
Comps (not travel): 825$ (how is this possible???)
Cubes: around 1400$ (I remember it being around there the last time I checked but I don’t remember the exact amount)
Travel: 2500$
Total: 4725$ (DAMN)
I been cubing for about 2.5 years and im a sweat

[Irotholoro]

Y'all spend a lot of money.

Competition $60 + maybe $40 travel
Cubes $150ish net (2x2-7x7, skewb, pyraminx, megaminx)

3 years cubing.

[cranberryjuice]

$50, damn I'm a cheapskate.

[yes cubing]

comp registration: €450 (15 comps x €30)
cubes: at least €800
transport and accommodation for comps: probably like €2000 but not my money (mostly charging car/diesel)
time: 2.5 years

total: €3250

what...

[Puzzle Maniac]

All in NZD
Comps: $407 (Base NZ reg $35 + OCFMC reg $20 AUD which equals $22 NZD)
Travel: Maybe ~$400?
Cubes: ~$600?
Time: Almost 3 years
Total: ~$1407 NZD ($807.78 USD)

[Garf]

Too much
Edit: if you want specific amounts:
Time: 5.5 years
Comps: 0, since my parents have paid for all my registration fees.
Cubes: $over 1k. I’ve bought too many cubes for my collection to show since I give away a lot of cubes.

[Algfish]

comp: 30$ cad
cubes: 500-750
time: 2.5 yrs

[OtaMota]

~150 for cubes
~75 for SEC Reg

Total is like $225

[Isaiah Scott]

I have spent a total of $789 on comp registration across 20 comps registered for (18 competed so far). This does not include staff/organizer reimbursement taken out of it. The total for comps will go up to $819 on Tuesday.
I'd guess I've spent over $1500 on cubes easily, if not closer to $2000-3000.

[NebraskanSpeedsolver]

Not enough.

[That_slow_guy]

Comp: idk about 150-200 dollars
Cubes: 175 dollars-ish
Accessories: 30 dollars
Time: about 1 1/4 years

[Sub20Soon]

Comps : 0$
Cubes : 90 $ (i just buyed the gan 12)
Time cubing : 2 months

[abunickabhi]

I have spent a lot on MBLD hardware.

It is the most expensive event to main and practice.

Ball park $3000 on cubes and $1000 on camera gear and MBLD accesories (mat and cloth and harmonica)

[Clock_Enthusiast]

I don't even know, but fuel is probably the biggest expense for me, since I don't buy new cubes too often. The only time I rush to buy something is when a new clock comes out haha.

[Thomas.Caleb]

Comps have been £395
Cubes £505
