F2L.

When I reached the last layer, I crapped myself trying and looked online.
From there I found out about algorithms and boom, here I am today at 30sec avg.

All of it. Made my own method and was able to solve it in about 7 min. I tried my old method yesterday (barely able to remember it since I made it two years ago when I was 10) and I got 3 min with it. Commutators FTW lol.

I would solve the first layer every once in a while, but at that time I had no interest in learning how to solve the whole thing. That is, until I got a brand new cube. Then I instantly went online to learn for myself how to do it for real.
Now I avg 23 seconds.

Just one layer, I had no idea what to do after that. :p

I would made a 3x1 block on a face (place two opposite cross pieces) then make a 3x1x1 block of the same colour somewhere else and place it beside the 3x1, then make another 3x1x1 block and place it to complete a face. After that I would intuitively switch any pieces that weren't in the correct position. Pretty terrible method, but that's what I started off doing since I couldn't come up with a better way of doing it.

I noticed some guy in another lunch table doing a cross, so I imitated that. And then I assumed the 4 "holes" had to be filled in. I noticed RUR' and RU'R insertions and used intuition to turn everything else into those 2 cases (horribly inefficient intuition with lots of whole cube rotations). Gave up on the rest of the cube and learned a stupid "fish" method from youtube.

F2L. Then I learned LL from the little booklet that came with it. My biggest mistake, I think, because it took forever for me to transition to Fridrich.

Now I average 24-ish with intuitive F2L and 4LLL.

I watched a tutorial before I got my first cube and bought one the next day to see if it really was as easy it looked like.
