just as the title says. how many strings in a magic? my guess is 15 or 16, i googled 'how many strings in a rubik's magic' to no sucesses. and even more specifically, how many strings are required in a magic? i think i lost a string while restringing my brothers magic (i made a thread about this :) ) and i don't have fishing line.

Depending on the stringing method, 8 can work. But 8 would be extremely unstable and would probably fall apart in a minute. You must realize that the tiles are tied together together, sort of like a double tie (one tie is 8 strings, 2nd tie is another 8 strings). So if you remove one of those ties, the tiles would still all together. This really depends on the stringing method though. But really, 15 can work fine, if you're not very violent while solving the magic, or you don't know how to solve it properly.

I assume you were watching this video. For the particular type of stringing method (same method as Lucas's) you're supposed to use both Type C and Type D, but you alternate them.
