How long to did it take you guys to get to sub-20?

I took me 4 years to consistently get sub-20 averages. I spent 2 years not knowing about any methods apart from beginner, then started learning F2L. First 2 years I had a cheap plastic cube, then I got a zhanchi and an aolong a year later. With the aolong, I got to the 17s, which is where I am now.

It's been 4 years and I'm not even sub-30. I am only now learning full PLL, so I guess you might not say I've been serious, but I learned f2l early on, and I'm lucky to do that in 20 seconds. My brain and hands just don't work that fast.

About 6-7 months. I learned how to solve the cube about a year ago, then got serious about it when Christmas came around so yea. PB Ao5 is around 16, Mo3 is around 14, and Ao12 is around 17 or 16. I don't remember. But these days, when I get a chance to cube, in a session where I actually try to get good times, I get usually mid to high 19's Ao12. I haven't practiced in a while mostly because of marching band and my job. If I hardcore practiced everyday, and did about 300-500 solves a day, I would easily be sub-17.
