I didnt put this in the beginners because its not about solving...
anyway, I pratice my cube at least 3 hours a day.... or more. It seems like i can do 2 averages of 12 then be done for the day like some of you guys. Then i just solve the cube throughtout the day after averages too. so it seems like all of that solving time... ireally dont improve. so my main question is how long should i study/pratice my 3x3 without going over board??:o

Practice (how to, time, etc) is an idea that changes from person to person based on their personal experiences. It's best not to take advice from other people on practice. BUT-
what Dark Lord said was right. When practicing, slow w/ lookahead will yield much better results than speed for the same amount of time.

I was just reading some other thread and it said that doing 100+ solve session would boost your times dramatically. I've never done that though. I usually just do a session every day or so. But my best average is about 38 seconds so...

Don't put too much pressure on reducing your time...just simply enjoy your cubing sessions! I never count how many hours or how many solves I do a day..there's no meaning for it to me

What I do:

I just randomly solve whenever I have time/am bored

Sometimes I practice PLLs while watching TV or something (don't need to look for repeat the same algo 10 times)

Also, when I really bother I just slow down and look ahead.
My best is ~27 secs (non lucky :)) and I average about 40s at the moment. Didn't really notice any difference between 50s average and 40s average.
Been a while since I timed myself and I was like "woah!" when I noticed my time dropped 10 seconds.
