[Help Thread] How long should I practice a new alg

how I learn algs is
1: practise it until I can do it without looking at the alg
2: come back to it 20-30 minutes later
3: practise it daily until I can do it perfectly
4: make sure I'm maintaining it by getting it enough in solves

how long that takes depends on the alg for example the comm UF-UL-DB which is R': F/R S R' it only took me once to have it ingrained in my memory whereas most LTCT algs take me a week or two before I am confidant with them

When I learn a new alg, how long should I practice it?
Gonna be honest, as long as you need to pal. There isn’t a straight forward answer. Just learn it once and learn it well. I made the mistake of learning mega 2look oll in one sitting. I knew it for a week, but now I can’t remember anything. So don’t cram learn it, study it, perform it.

did you review it after you learnt it in 1 sitting? just curious

keep practicing it again and again then do solves to test. Try doing the same alg again the next day and see if you remembered it. This works for me and I use it for multiple algs. Also, try to find landmarks like R U R' U' or R' F R F'. IF there are any landmarks, make sure to remember it. (Landmarks can be anything, J Perms, T Perms) Lastly, make sure you sleep well to enhance memorization, good luck!
