How does FMC work?

Hello,
I understand this is not speedcubing, but I couldn't find a better place to post this thread. anyway strait to the point. I'm a eighth grade student and for my science project I am doing a cube related experiment. I will be comparing the average moves for CFOP, Petrus, and FMC. My problem is I don't know how to solve a cube in the fewest moves. Could someone direct me to a detailed tutorial. I've seen the tutorials by Cubingworld, however I just couldn't understand what the procedures were to get the skeleton and how insertions were created.
Thank you.

FMC isn't really a method, but an approach-based practice. As I'm sure you're aware, there are a multitude of approaches to solving a 3x3, but being familiar with some of the more efficient styles of piece solving (e.g. free blockbuilding, premoves, inversion, etc.) can enhance your solution lengths.
For beginners, I usually say to try learning how to build simple things like a 2x2x2 block or a 1x2x3 block or seemingly arbitrary clusters of pieces just to get familiar with the process of colour matching and piece manipulation.
