For 5x5 I average 5 minutes. I'm going to include 4x4 in this thread as well. I average 2-3 minutes on the 4x4.

4x4
I use advanced edge pairing and takes me about 25 seconds to do the centres. But I always end up having 2:50 or something like that. How do you get sub 1?
Is it my 3x3 solve? I take around 30 seconds to solve it in the 4x4.

For 5x5 I've been looking for tutorials and stuff on YouTube and even used the search function on speed solving for 5x5. How do you get to sub 3? - My aim for 5x5

Thanks

Well a lot of us use the very methods that can be found all over Youtube, it just simply takes practice. As you keep playing with it you start to find pieces easier or spin it faster or more precisely. The larger the cube the longer it tends to take to improve =(

I'm learning K4 right now. After mastering K4, specifically commutators (the concept) I will start subbing better. K4 is pretty awesome, try that
since you can do about 2-3 miinutes on a 4x4x4, try using K4. You can probably get like 1:30

I found that what cube you're using is a big impact. On my ES 5x5 I averaged like 5 minutes. I just recently got my V- 5 and now I'm averaging 3:30. I also suggest an insane amount of look ahead practice. Like turning slower then progressively get faster turning. An above all: Practice.

Practice, like Erik said.

To be more specific, try not to have really long pauses in between edges... that was my problem that I managed to fix by getting better at look ahead.

...but then my 5x5 broke and I still haven't gotten a new one -.-

I have just started to practice 5x5 and I have a QJ (Cleffert) and it is a disaster (big, heavy, locks a lot, elastic, poping, you name it). I´m waiting for the V-5 cubes to arrive soon.....I can´t wait!:)

Your avatar is scaring me, PLEASE change it :p

oyea, practice is the key to bigcubes (and all cubes, really).
