How do state records work?

[Arcanist]

1. How do you check state records? As far as I can tell you use this website: https://www.cubingusa.org/state_rankings#/s=al/a=0/e=333oh but I was wondering if there was something else.
2. Do you have to live in the state to get the sr? So like if I lived in Colorado and went to a comp in Utah and broke the SR for Utah but not Colorado would I get an SR?

Just curious on this topic don't plan on going for an SR

That is the correct site. It’s very unofficial/grassroots.

It is based on the state you live in. Not where results are done.

1. I don't know of anything else.
2. You have to live in the state, so in your example you would not get a SR. It's similar to NRs/CRs. For example, Joshua Tekwie from Papau New Guinea got the NR 3x3 average and single at Australian Nationals.

It's similar to how if you go to a different country and got NR there you only get NR for your own country, not the traveling country.

State records are unofficial and not tracked by the WCA. They are only in the US and tracked only by CubingUSA.

No matter where you compete, in another state or in another country, it will only count as a record in the state you live in.
