Hey speedcubers. I am eager to join your ranks. I am 32, and have been solving Rubik’s cubes for probably 20 years but never really looked into speedcubing until now. My personal best is 54 seconds, and I actually achieved that by coming up with about 7 algorithms on my own about 10 years ago.

I am basically getting into this more right now because I need a hobby that doesn’t involve looking at a screen. I work in animation/VFX, and my eyes need a break.. but

I know 3 unique ways of solving a Rubik’s cube and none of them are the beginners method you’d find in the “instruction book” that comes with a new cube.. I know that because I watched my nephew solve one the other day and I realized I use some of the same algorithms but for completely different things.

I also discovered this week that one of my methods is somewhat similar to the Roux method. But it is still very different. I still don’t know if the method has a name.. (if anyone knows the name I am very curious..). Here is the breakdown:
Bottoms corners, top corners, top and bottom edges simultaneously. Then solve the middle.

I have been using old gunked up Rubik’s cubes for years, and just recently purchased a GAN cube, and am loving it.

anyway, currently teaching myself F2L and PLL. I’ve always liked more of an intuitive approache than this, but if this is what I need to do to lower my time, I’ll do it

nice to meet you! (I’m sure this was more than you wanted to know.. haha)

Hello! I would highly suggest you pick up Roux, it's a great intuitive method and--as you said--is similar to your own method! It is equally viable (in my opinion, even more viable) than the popular CFOP method. And progression with Roux is more linear than CFOP, since the steps are more consistent than CFOP!

Yo welcome to the forums!

Cool forum it is.

Welcome! Your method sounds quite similar to http://rubikscube.info/beginner.php. Not sure how you do top and bottom edges simultaneously though. I'd also suggest trying out different methods like Roux or ZZ to see what you enjoy more
Wow. This is actually very close. I am studying this to figure out what they are doing different, but this is about as close as you could get. Thanks! I guess it is just another beginner method, haha
