Welcome to this forum and thanks for single-handedly restoring the average quality of "newbee-posts" to an acceptable level.
Thank you Arnaud. I hope I can keep my post quality at least average :)
Switching methods is a painfull process and should be done as soon as possible. After 2.5 years of speedcubing I am still using a beginners method and although I try switching every once in a while I am just to fast with the beginner method and to slow with the more advanced method to really switch.
...and yet your WCA profile would indicate you are quite a rapid solver: an average of 22.47 is (in my opinion) most excellent and more than I would expect to achieve in my lifetime.
You are also correct about the "no notes allowed in competition" :D. If this is going to be your first competition you will be much more relaxed if you prepare yourself by reading http://www.worldcubeassociation.org/regulations/
Yes, I came across the regulations early in my cubing ventures whilst seeking out a scrambler; I just love the way that organisations formulate their formal articles -- I've been reading the WCA forums for a few months and following the various discussions, especially with respect to the incorporation of larger cubes into competition (I consider the V-Cube 7 to be the pinnacle of human achievement :D -- but a 100 move scramble? that's going to be time-consuming!).
if you would come to the pre-competition-meeting on fridaynight (there is always one somewhere) so you can already meet other speedcubers. I am sure you will have a great time
Alas I'm unlikely to be able to attend a Friday night get-together: I will most probably be visiting Manchester by train on Saturday only (my partner and our children will most probably spend the day at one of Manchester's very good museums). By the way, is a schedule of the event published yet? (perhaps to registered competitors?) I'm eager to buy my train tickets but I haven't found any schedule at Dan's site (and I don't want to bother him with email at what must be a hectic time).
