Hello Everyone!

I'm new to cubing and I live in Florida, USA. I love music and I am a musician, playing both the piano and the violin pretty well. I am also into computer programming and gaming (If any of you are also gamers it would be super cool to meet you). I picked up cubing about 3-4 months ago when my math teacher introduced it to us in class. She showed us how to make the cross, and I just went from there using a video from Youtube. I had some classmates that also figured out how to solve it using the video, but never really had the interest in getting faster. I now average about 20 seconds on 3x3 and about 10 seconds on 2x2 (I plan to practice more 2x2). My goal right now is to get consistent sub-20 solves on 3x3 and sub-10 on 2x2. I'm excited to have fun discussions on the forums!:)

Welcome! Yeah, your 2x2 times are slow compared to your 3x3 times :p Learn Ortega, it's a simple method that's easy to learn, but can be quite fast. When I was at your 3x3 speed, I was sub-5 on 2x2.
E: just saw you've only been cubing for 3-4 months... it took me twice as long to get to your speed.

I'm going to learn Ortega because it's easy to learn. I might learn CLL when I get to the point when I mastered Ortega and can't go faster because CLL is only the first layer and one algorithm to finish it off.

Do you guys get a really weird feeling when you start playing with the 3x3 after an hour or two with the 2x2? I feel as if I'm like using a big cube with tiny pieces. It's super weird.
The same thing happens when I transition from bigger cubes to smaller cubes. When I first start to use the smaller cube it feels like it has huge pieces.

Yes. It's annoying.

I find it's good when you're doing bigger cubes: after practising 5x5 for a while, 4x4 suddenly appears to be really easy because it doesn't have many pieces, and I get better times.

I can't imagine how outrageous it would be to transition from a 13x13 to a 2x2 or vice versa. I would never do that, that's too much of a change.

Also, I have a Moyu Weisu as a 4x4. I never practice 4x4, but I have a good reason.

I don't know if every big cube is like this, but the one I got locks up, catches, and pops ALL THE TIME. It's almost like I'm scared to go fast because if I do, it's just going to fall apart into hundreds of pieces. That's what's really holding me back from wanting to play with bigger cubes. Is that the case with every WeiSu or is that just mine?

Tensions might be too loose.
