Greetings! I'd like to introduce myself :)

I have started to solve 3x3 last week or two and started to learn intuitive F2L recently. Time is still 2mins+ and I got a storebought cube.

When I read around, someone said that I can actually solve the cube with beginner's method in a minute. What does it take to do that? I have tried as fast as I can but still its 2mins+..

Anyway! I'll keep on practicing! Currently I'm doing F2L drills - only solving F2L then re-scrambling the cube. Is it okay to do that?

Nice to meet you all! :D

In fact, somebody has averaged sub20 with a LBL (layer by layer) method.

Welcome!

Yes, it is perfectly alright to do F2L drills. Keep in mind that speedsolving is about you, and as such, you can do whatever you want! Cubing is a very individual based hobby. What works for some people may not work for others, or it might even work better. Just try different things (turn speeds, cubes, methods, algorithms, etc) until you find something that you like.

Most importantly of all, remember that this is all about having fun.

it is possible to get times like that with beginner it takes practice. I use beginner and my best is 32 seconds.

Wow. I love this forum :D

Thanks for all the advice. I'll update as soon as I reached sub 1mins!

Today is the day I broke my 1 minute mark! 54.69.. trying to do it consistently from now on!

Be sure to try out other methods too to expand your knowledge! :D

Oh and with beginner I average 22 secs. (CLL and 2 look ELL, I don't know many OLL PLLs any more because I never use them.)
But I use Roux as my main.

i just used the beginner's method that came with the rubik's brand cube and i still average about 50+ seconds. that's how fast i was when i switched to cfop. explore other methods and experiment before settling down to a method that lets you solve in less than 20 secs.

Hey guys I average about 45 seconds or soo and I use F2L or CFOP. I dont really know if theres a difference. I wanna know if it worth learning the Roux Method. It sounds interesting.

What do you mean by "if it's worth it?" If you want to expand your horizons, it's a fun method to try out, and obviously it can be just as fast as CFOP.

Roux isn't my main method but I still like to use it every now and then.
