Hey guys! I'm from Melbourne, Australia. It's awesome to finally get into speedcubing- I've been wanting to get into it for ages but just a few days ago I found a really nice cube for pretty cheap, so I picked it up and started learning. I'm getting 1:20-1:30 averages and my single PB is 1:09. I plan to pick up CFOP soon, anyone have any tips for learning? I tried memorizing some algorithms but it seems my problem is trying to match the alg with the case.

Thanks!

Hello welcome to SS! Here you can find lots of information about solving it, theory, competitions and lots more! About matching up the alg with the case, remember things like, "Headlights in the back, do this." or "Cross on top, 1 corner also, do this." Ect... When learning things like COLL and ZBLL, you track the corners and then the edges, or thats how I do it.

Yeah, that's how I learned the beginner algs. "Move this side up, bring this across, bring this edge over here", etc. After a little practice I just knew how each step of the algorithm would look. Muscle memory soon followed. Thing is, the beginner algs were stupidly easy to associate with cases because there are so few cases you need to know, only one or two for each step.
