Hey there!
I'm from Panama (Central America) and just started college here in the United States, specifically, California. I've got some interest in computer science and I am planning on getting a degree in Computer Science. I like to be with my family, even though I'm living with my aunt's family here. I feel like California is very cold place, since I come from a country which annual average temperature is 30°C. I think I am getting used to it though
.
I used to be a full-time gamer, but not anymore, because in life you got to make progress or you will be left behind
. Anyhow, I found gaming a waste of time if I get "too into it". Used to play games such as Counter-Strike 1.6, the Call of Duty series, Rebel Raiders, Moto GP URT, DotA, and Ragnarok Online.
I like speedsolving the 3x3x3 and I'm planning to get a 5x5x5 and a 2x2x2. My average on the 3x3x3 is 24 seconds and my personal best is 15.xx seconds. I'm currently using intuitive F2L, 2-Look OLL and 18 PLLs. I will have to spend some time to find finger-friendly algorithms, since all of the ones I know are from Erik's website (learned them back then when it still existed). College keeps me busy, but I can still find some time for speedsolving. I started to speedsolve the 3x3x3 in high school, back in Panama. Aw, I left my 4x4x4 in Panama :S.
I like learning martial arts, specifically, Kung Fu. I know a little of: Shaolin, Shaolin stick, Tai Chi. I learned some Wing Chun and practice it frequently. I have the wooden man at home back in Panama, sadly I couldn't bring it with me. I have a table tennis table in Panama too! I am afraid of not having used it when I could. I used to play basketball with my friends, but not much since I moved.
Learning a new language might actually be interesting for me, even though I will have to spend a lot of time to master it. I can speak two Chinese dialects (Hacka and Cantonesse), Chinese Mandarin, English, and Spanish. I want to learn French, Korean, Portuguese, and if possible, Russian. I will somehow have to figure out how to get time to learn these other languages.
I'm learning to play keyboard myself, with "Alfred's Basic Adult Piano Course Level 1". The reason why I started to learn piano is that once I read an article that showed the link between music and the brain. I think the article I read mentioned that it uses both hemispheres of the brain, which, according to what they have found, develops your intelligences.
I don't hang out much since I haven't found friends that share common interests with me and actually "like to hang out". Maybe I should start being more social? D:
I just made a blog to keep track of my progress in speedsolving; if you've got time, check it out!: http://speedsolvingjournal.blogspot.com/
Ou... Looks like too much for an introductory thread D: Sorries :fp
Hope I can get better by reading / asking in the speedsolving forums.
