Well ive been around the forums for a few days now but I figured I should introduce myself. I have a 2x2, 3x3, and 4x4 although my 2x2 is broken =( my 2x2 averaged 20 sec (using my begginer 3x3 method) 3x3m average 65-70ish and 4x4 is currently around 5 mins(yea im terrible)

anyway I started cubing around 2 years ago my baby sister peeled my stickers and I eventually just threw away the cube and gave up for a while. Then a few weeks ago I looked on ebay for a cube as a random search and found a 2x2 3x3 and 4x4 all for $20 so i figured hey it says speedcube it shouldnt be to bad. got them in and the 4x4 and 2x2 were great few lock ups and decent speed and my 3x3 locks up like crazy. I was surprised after 2 years of not cubing I still could solve the cube without outside help(I remembered all my algs! which was only like 8 at the time)

Well anyway outside of cubing I play guitar. I have an ESP F-50 a BC Rich Warlock a Kramer Vangaurd an Eleca(acoustic) a fender (acoustic) and a First act (walmart toy guitar) Been playing for 5-6 years now. Im selling my vangaurd (to get new cubes lmao besides that guitar blows! And I got others that are so much better.) Im also a hardcore gamer and I like to speedrun games (47 min Super Metroid 6 mins 30 sec super mario bros 2 hour A link to the past)

So well thats me hi everyone hope to see ya around.

O and a quick question where should I post to try to find other local cubers?

Welcome
If you think your 3x3 locks too much you might want to buy a decent one from an online speedcubeshop. This cube, for example, is awesome after lubrication.

Where are you from?

Im from New Mexico in the US and in my town I dont know a single other person that can solve a 3x3(not to say there isnt I just havnet met one yet) my younger step brother solved one(thanks to my help and badmephistos beginers video)

Thanks and I was actually going to get a blue Dayan Guhong as soon as I sell my guitar (I was also thinking about a Zanchi also or a Sq 1 or megaminx or 5x5) also getting a v cube 2x2 or wittwo 2x2

Welcome! If you want a good SQ 1, I recommend getting the mf8 V2. For megaminx, get a QJ v2 or an mf8 v2. For 5x5, get a Shengshou, and most people think the Wittwo is better than the v-cube (and cheaper).

For 3x3, the Guhong and Zhanchi are probably the best cubes at the moment
For 2x2, I'dd advice you to get a LanLan. It's cheaper than Vcube or Wittwo and is an excellent cube for people who average >8 seconds :) (edit: Wittwo is better than Vcube)

Try going to a competition to meet people from your area :)

Thanks for that advice. Im getting about 100 for my guitar and half is going towards cubes the rest is bill money. Just beat my PB got a 45.73! had a quick F2L skipped OLL of edges and knew the oll for a 1 look OLL and had a 2l PLL but mycube locked on my before I finished my solve this could of been sub 45 =(

Hi and welcome. :)

O and a quick question where should I post to try to find other local cubers?
I would start by editing your location into the first post of this thread. You can also go to Settings > Edit Profile, then add your location, other cubers from your area might then see this and PM you. It doesn't matter if there's no one else in your area, as you can always recruit new cubers! :P

O yea ive been trying to recruit new cubers I got my step brother into it. My uncle is interested but I doubt he will be serious about it. And I just checked out the cubing usa and yea theres a person in portales (20 miles from me) And a friend of mine knows another cuber also yay.

Most people never get serious; they just play with their cubes and don't care about their times.
The cube is just a toy for them; maybe a hobby, but not an obsession, or a sport (as most people on speedsolving think)
but anyway, good for you that you found some people in your area
cubing's always more fun with more people

Well my step brother is really getting into it and he is finally at a point where he can solve the 3x3 with me only having to tell him 1 or 2 algs. And yea my uncle just wants to get one to mess around with at work and figure out how to solve it. I still havnt met this other cuber here in clovis I gotta wait till my cousin is ungrounded to introduce us. But my cousin says his average is 30-40 seconds so hes just slightly above me. (Im starting to average from 50-55 now! I had a sub 50 average today)

Sweetness I just ordered myself a dayan guhong cant wait for it to come in. I also got me a megaminx mf8 im super excited and I cant wait for them to come in. In other non cubing news I start work again monday so ill have money for bills (and more cubes) yay =) and I didnt know where to post this I was thinking hardware area but since its just an announcement about new cubes im getting yea. O and my uncle recorded me solving a cube (55 seconds) and put it on his facebook I think ill link to the video in the video gallery and maybe get some tips but I know what I got problems with slow cross (5-8 seconds) bad f2l (usually done by 30 secondsish) and my algs take a good while (A perm 3-4 Z perm 2-3 seconds yea) but I wanna see how my perms change with a new cube =)

For your guhong, I highly recommend getting some Traxxas Differential Oil 50k weight for lubrication. I have it, and on my zhanchi its AMAZING. I heard its similar to Lubix. (not to try to ruin Lubix sales)

Yea I was going to go for some differential oil lube I just gotta wait till I get in some money to get it till then im going to go lubeless or crc silicone.
