My name is James and I'm 19 years old. I solved my first Rubik's cube around 8th grade but I've never been fast enough to be considered a speedcuber (compared to most speedcubers). As of now all I ever been able to do is the very basic beginner method. I know a few finger tricks and my fastest solve has been around 37 seconds, which I'll post a video below (my average solve is around 45-55 seconds) I got back into cubing around 2 weeks ago and I'm currently trying to learn the F2l algorithms, then I can move on to OLL and PLL algorithms. I figured I'd join this community and try to master the moves by learning from y'all. With that said, I hope to see yall around the forums.

Here is my fastest recorded solve, which is probably my fastest solve too.

Hello. Yeah go for intuitive F2L as leighzercuber said. Also check out other methods too, you might not want to switch but they will give you broader knowledge and you'll grasp the basic skills required in CFOP.

I've been trying to do that but for some f2l cases I just have to look it up, I'll be staring at the cube for 10 minutes and have no clue what to do. Any tips?

Look how pieces move around to create one of two types of 'pairs', the one where you join it up into the slot, and the one where the pair just gets inserted. Give me some setup moves that will set up the case you are stuck with, and I'll show you how I'd do it which will give you insight in out to do the rest.

Just experiment, be patient, and don't give up on f2l. I know some people personally who gave up on f2l and they wonder why I average 20 seconds. Also, as 5BLD said use different methods. I messed with petrus and have a way better understanding of edge orientation and how to affect it.

Yeah, I learned F2L intuitively without even realizing it was F2L. I would recommend learning it intuitively, so that, as others have mentioned, you gain a better understanding of how it works, and how you can manipulate it.

Aside from that, welcome to the forums.
