Well, to start off, my hometown is Chennai. However, I am currently based in Trichy as I'm studying my 1st year in Electrical and Electronics( BTech) at NIT. I discovered cubing when I attended a workshop for it at my college sometime in October, I guess.. Feverish practice ensued and I soon got to around 1:30 on my ghost hand 3x3 in a few weeks. Soon, the December holidays came and my interest waned.
Only in March again, when I attended the Pragyan cube open, did it revive. I was inspired by some of the performances although mine was nothing to brag about ( 1:15, 1:37
) didn't post an average as a result. Since, then I started attacking the cube again (quite literally as my ghosthand is now broken thanks to no lubing and forceful popping
) Learnt intuitive F2L though before it broke and know 7 OLL's I guess(the ones for the cross on top). As a result, I was into the mid 40's. Probably could have been faster if I had lubed the cube. Tried my hand at BLD as well with a very basic method and got a few solves( 19:xx
) Since then I bought a QJ pyraminx, Maru lube and a wittwo 2x2 from SCMU. Can do the pyraminx in around 20 seconds, with a best of 12( a bit lucky). Currently learning the Ortega method for 2x2. Thinking of getting a zhanchi and learning the full fridrich by the end of the summer. Want to break into sub-15 by same time next year. Yes, a bit of high expectations I know.
So that should be about it! I have heard of a Chennai cubers group which meets from time to time. Anyone care to give details? I would like to come on the weekends when I come home
