Help with g-perms please!

I need help with them!
How do you recognize if you have a g perm, right after finishing OLL and how do you recognize which g perm you have? AND how much does knowing the g perms help your times? on a scale of 1-10

G perms have one 1x1x2 block together. Adjust U until that block is solved, and then rotate the whole cube so that the face with matching corner stickers is on the left (i.e. ULF and ULB are the same color). Now just look where the solved block is (UB/UBR, UR/UBR, UR/URF, or UF/URF) and that tells you which alg to use.

As far as how much it will help you, well, that depends on you. If you can recognize and execute a G perm faster than you can recognize and execute an edge cycle and a corner cycle, which you will be able to with a little practice, then it helps you exactly that much.
