Yeah, there are probably a lot of threads like this just asking for help to get faster. The problem for me right now is figuring out my method. I know a lot of different ways to solve it...but nothing I've tried so far can get my average under a minute. My average is 1 minute 35 seconds. My preferred method (I think I need a new one lol)

I make my cross

I orient and permute 3 edges on the top.

Then I solve three of the pieces in the middle layer.

After that I put the final edge piece in place in the top layer.

I use the algorithm d' r' d r d f d' f' to put the final middle piece in place thereby completing two rows.

After all of this I use a few algorithms to orient the edges

Then I permute the edges

Then I permute the corners and orient them

Is there a better way of doing this?

I have been trying to pair the corners and edges after I do the cross but that seems to be ineffective so I have stopped practicing that. Is that a lot better? Should I try harder with that?

What are some other tips, tricks, and YOUR methods (if you are faster than me...lol, not too big of an accomplishment) that you use?

I am a noob, don't poke fun, but I'm trying and I want to become a speed cuber.

He just put random stickers on one face of the cube and showed that. Then threw it and showed the other solved sides. This crap helps me how???;)

Your explanation is flawed. d:

Just practice, sub 20 averages are achievable by even the lbl beginners method.
As proven by multiple posts.

Okay, so keyhole is using the sort of "door" to solve the middle layer by leaving one edge unsolved?

I think we're on the same page...yes i'm using that method. With a lot of practice, will the fridrich method of pairing edges and corners be more benefitial than the keyhole method? Is that where the crux of my slowness is?

umm...possibly...
iv'e tried keyhole before and it's pretty easy but not much of a speedsolving method
experiment with other methods
but fridich is the most common method

true...but i dont prefer it
some people do though
it all depends what your'e comfortable with
if you do decide to go with keyhole i recommend some lube and a cube4you speedcube

that is NOT crap! dennis is a god.

anyway. practise. that's really not what you wanted to hear, but with most methods you should be able to sub minute. i used the same method with the same algs all the way from above five minutes to sub 30... that was petrus incase you wanted to know.

I have been watching a lot of tutorials on f2l. The one by lancetheblueknight was very helpful. When I get a minute I'll check this one out. Thanks.

I found that loocking ahead works, and also good lubrication of your cube. And another thing that took me down 10 seconds was to learn reverse algorithms. I got 24 seconds with beginner's method, just by using reverse.
