Hi, I am a thirteen year old cuber living in Las Vegas, Nevada. I am new to this forum. I am currently learning the fridrich method. I solve the last layer in three looks, two look oll, and full pll. I do know some random olls here and there. I am sub 30 unless I mess up badly. I am really close to being sub 25 but my F2L is in the way. I got my first rubiks cube December 25, 2012. I finally solved a cube in April 2013, because I could solve the first layer's corners but I never oriented them correctly. A friend helped me with this step and it was thanks to him that I could finally solve a cube. By the end of that school year, I was around a minute. Over the summer, I started learning PLLs and F2L. My times went into the 50s and then into the 40s. In Fall 2013, I continued to learn more PLLs. At that point I was in the 30s. I got lazy and didn't learn the G/N/V perms until a month or two ago. I am hoping to be sub 20, if only my F2L was faster. I seriously need to learn look ahead. By the time summer ends, I hope to be sub 15. I hope I can achieve with these forums.

Rubiks Cube PB: 15.84 (Full step, and I got it today)
Rubiks Cube AO5: 21.75 (I wish it was sub 20)

I need to get better at F2L first, but when the time comes for me to learn full OLL, I will be stuck. Learning 57 algorithms seems hard, and I need a good order to learn them in. The task still seems daunting. I wonder how fast I could get without learning it. Eventually, I will have to learn it though.

OLL isn't terribly hard to deal with, as long as you're willing to learn them diligently. Some people(me) can take up to nine months to learn it all, but others accomplish it in a much lower time.

I have heard of some people being sub12 with 2-look OLL, but I'd recommend learning it before that point.

Okay, what you first want to do is solidify your f2l. Find a pair, close your eyes, and insert it. Do this a lot. After doing this, you should be able to insert pairs without looking at them. Then, you should try to look for other pairs while inserting. Turning really slowly during solves can help you. (IF YOU LOOK AHEAD) Concentrate on the cube and not the timer. Don't learn OLL yet. I'm around 15 seconds and I only know a few olls plus the corner ones. Also, you should be able to plan out the whole cross during inspection. This just takes practice, and don't worry about it too much. It'll come with time. Well hope this helped. Keep practicing!

Part of it is due to laziness. :P By the time I'm sub 20 I will make myself memorize olls routinely. Perhaps over the summer because school is almost over and I should (better) be sub 20 by the middle of it.

Compared to F2L, OLL will only help your times by a few seconds. Instead of doing OLL, work on F2L over the summer and you can easily improve your times by 10 seconds, or more, assuming this is all you do during the summer.

I agree F2L is more important, but Just going to the wiki and choosing one alg to learn once a day takes up a minute a day. I've learned 180 ZBLLs, this way I just spend 5-10 minutes a day looking for something to learn and practice it a few times, until I can do it fast. No reason not to start and it allows you to turn a daunting task in small steps that are easy.
