Hi,
my name is Klaus, i am from Germany (i apologize for my english in advance), 55 years old, cubing for about 5 months now.
i got into cubing by reading about Max Deutsch's 12 challenges, one of them bying to learn to solve a 3x3 sub 20. as at my age you constantly have to fight upcoming dementia, i thought i would be a good idea to give it a try myself (not sub 20, but maybe 10 times that, so something like sub 3 minutes).
i started out with Dan Browns classic "He world"-beginners-tutorial, and i reached my first goal after about 10 days of practising. that was a really great feeling, and i got more and more in love with the cube.
i pratice a lot, study other ressources, of course badMephisto and others, switched to intuitive F2L, 2-look OLL and PLL. timewise there are a lot ups and downs, learning something new always throws me back a lot, but for the moment joy heavily outweighs frustration, so i ride on.
my current goal is to stabilize somewhere between 40-50 sec, which i reach on a really good solve, but not on a regular basis.
and still, deep hidden in the back of my mind, there is this picture, that one day everything comes together in place, i stop the timer and i stare in disbelieve at the display, where i see something like 19.87.
Best wishes to all of you, hope to make some friends here,
Klaus
