[Member Intro] Hello from The Netherlands!

Hello and welcome! I’m similar age, speed, walk of life. In terms of getting to sub-25 I would say slow solves are the most important tool you have. I plateaued at 30s for a very long time until I reall started to stop turning in panic mode during timed solves and actually just make every single turn count in slow practice untimed solves.

welcome to the forums and good luck in your journey!

For WCA puzzles, I can solve 2x2-7x7, as well as pyraminx, megaminx, skewb, square-1, clock, 3x3 one-handed, and 3x3 blindfolded. So I basically practice everything except for the big blinds and FMC.

That's an impressive list. Which one do you like the most?

Thank you for your advise! I do go into panic mode most of the time when I’m doing a timed solve. Especially when the cross and F2L are going great and I can see in the corner of my eye that I’m going for a new personal record. That’s the moment I make mistakes and fail. A lot of times when I’m just doing untimed solves, it’s going really great and I have the feeling I’m so much faster. I have to learn to keep the cool. What is your average at the moment? I will post on update when I’m getting faster!

Hey there. My current ao500 is just under 25s, I regurally get ao5 and ao12s in the 20-23s range though. I've really found that the intentionally slow untimed solves to be helpful; you do all your thinking and learning of certain cases and pairs in a relaxed environment that way during a timed solve you can think less and just execute. Good luck on your journey!
