My name is Dylan and I've been a cuber for about five years but only got into speed solving last year. I just memorized my 12th pll today and my goal is to have a sub-25 avg on 3x3.
I also do 2x2 (single pb: 3.835) and pyraminx (single pb: 14.630).
If anyone has what they think is the best speedsolve method for 2x2 and pyraminx feel free to say so!

for 2x2 I would recommend ortega (AKA varssano) and for pyra I would recommend intuitive l4e(AKA polish V or V first). both are very simple to grasp and can be very fast. I average sub 3.2 on 2x2 with ortega and sub 4.5 on pyra with intuitive l4e.

Welcome to the forum! You've been cubing for quite a while so you must have a lot of knowledge already of how the cube works. Your 3x3 times seem very nice already and I'm sure as soon as you learn full PLL and improve on some other things here and there you'll be close to 20 seconds in no time.

Regarding 2x2 and Pyra, the single is not very relevant, as those are quite fast events. An Ao12 or Ao50 would be a better reference. Anyway, in Pyra there's room for improvement for sure with that single and in 2x2 most probably too. Not sure what methods you're using right now but I would recommend learning Ortega for 2x2 if not already done so, before getting into much more alg heavy methods like CLL or EG. For Pyra there are lots of fast methods, it all depends on your preference (top first, bottom first) and I'm sure other people will give you better advice on that, I'm just using keyhole at the moment with averages around 12 seconds, so I'm slow :)

Hope you enjoy being part of this great community.

Thanks for the advice both of you! I already know ortega for 2x2, just finished last alg a couple weeks ago. The main thing I think for me for pyraminx is to get rid of my QJ pyraminx (absolutely terrible) and find a method on the wiki that suits me (I'll look into l4e). Are there any pyraminxes that either of you recommend?

hi welcome I'm also from california

I don't do either of those events, but I think EG is the fastest method for 2x2 and Topfirst for pyraminx

Welcome to the forums! :D
I can't say much on the 2x2 as I'm not a particularly huge fan of it, b for the Pyraminx, the best in the world (for records, at least), Drew Brads uses 1-Flip, and several other fast minxers, such as Kim Jokinen use it. There are a few Algs to learn, but they are very short and simple.

The best in the world currently is rafał waryszak and he uses V first and drew brads doesn't use 1 flip he uses a collection of methods called top first witch include keyhole okay 1flip wo Nutella and probably a few more.

Drew Brads holds the world record single and former average.
