My name is Chirag. I am from India. I have been cubing since last 3 months . I know f2l and also 2 look oll and pll
My average is about 50 seconds . I take almost 20 seconds at cross and 20 for f2l and 10 for oll and pll
I wanna improve my time and particularly the cross.
My cube is dayan zhanchi . I really wanna improve my time to sub -30 .

Regards

Hey Chirag, welcome to the forum!

Since you want to improve the best way is to practice over and over again. I hated when somebody told me this, but it's true :)

Have a nice day :)

Hi welcome! I am from India too. Practice a lot though. Practicing for around 5 hours everyday for one month in summer got me to a 29 Average in a month

What I grab from this is to practice .. But seriously 5 hours is a long time. I want to improve my time at cross
It takes 20 seconds.

I also struggled with the cross, so here are some tips:

- Do the cross on the bottom
- Don't align the colors as inserting pieces --> Learn the color orientation for at least white (opposite of white is yellow, right of green is orange, right of blue is red, orange is opposite of red and so on...) (Look here for more information)
- Solve the cross without timing and make it with as less moves as possible (you should nearly always be able to solve the cross with 7 or less moves --> http://badmephisto.com/cross.php
- If you can solve the cross with less moves, then try to solve it as fast as possible
- Try to plan the whole cross in inspection (if you did the things above)

With these tips you should get your cross easily to 5 Seconds or less :)

Good luck and have fun

I don't think it's a waste of time if you enjoy it...

You might, but you will highly regret it when you start developing RSI (if you practice five hours straight). Not only that, enjoyment does not correlate with improvement.

PixelWizard's tips above should help a lot, and once you (OP) can do those, try doing the cross blindfolded. Just remember that the whole point of doing it blindfolded is so that you don't feel the need to focus on the cross itself because you should be finding the next pair.

OK will try to do so.. Do u think that I should stick with zhanchi...or perhaps use a slower one for now..?

In my opinion, it doesn't matter as long as you can control the cube well. The Zhanchi is fine, but you can spend time with each of your cubes and see which one you like best.

RSI
You afraid me. I read a little bit about it and now I'm feeling bad, when I'm cubing :(

Don't worry, just take breaks when you start to feel tired or experience pain.

What is RSI ? I will stick with my zhanchi...:D

welcome :D You have a nice OLL/PLL time, but your cross and f2l does need work. one thing i think helps with crosses, is using the 15 seconds inspection time, and just plan out the cross, then do the cross without looking, it may be weird/difficult at first, but i find it helps, happy practicing! :D
