well this is the basic breakdown of it:
1. Edge Orientation
2. block build left + right block (block building (1x2x3 like roux))
3. insert 1st layer edges + permute top layer edges (2gen M,U but may HAVE to include other sides for some cases)
4. CLL (modded to be last though)

I need some help on this so if you are interested pm me and well try and get started.
PS (I also need a name for it >.>)

COLL doesn't preserve edge permutation, right?
I'm just wondering what the most efficient steps 3 and 4 would be.

if you think this is simpler than roux, you are kidding yourself. first of all, your #2 is the same as roux #1 and #2. CMLL will be faster than edge-pure CLL. and the TPS of step #4 in roux can be insane, since it's completely 2gen. You are basically taking roux and making it worse IMO.

that's a pretty good idea! You could call it Luke or Mayn for the method name :) I might practice this for a little while and try to come up with some way to improve it.

P.S. - it is a lot like Roux, you gotta change it up a bit o_O

where is a roux tutorial?
BTW people, the only reason I made the EO step was to make block building easier.
Might look into roux...
Also (correct me if I'm wrong because I think i am :/) aren't there only 21 CLL (saving edges) cases? 3 pure corner PLL's and 7 Pure corner OLL's...

here is a short breakdown of why this is not better than roux:

roux step 1:
lots of freedom, few moves, you can find blocks during inspection.
compared to this method step 2:
in order to preserve EO, you are restricted in possible turns. high move count. you cannot find blocks during inspection, since you have to EO first.

roux step 2:
CMLL algs are nice and short, and are generally fingertrick friendly.
this method step 4:
long algs, most will probably be 5-6gen, generally slow.

roux step 3:
since you are only orienting 6 edges, this step is usually fast with easy recognition.
this method step 1:
orienting all 12 edges is hard, even with the inspection time. this also ruins your block building phase.

roux step 4:
generally fast, easy recognition.
this method step 4:
just as fast execution, but recognition would take long since the corners are not oriented/permuted, so its hard to tell where the edges actually need to go.

any blockbuilders, especially roux, have anything to say about this?

I think this method is comparable to inserting pairs before making a cross, then doing PLL before OLL.

When you solve the edges before the corners in the LL, won't that dramatically increase the number of algs needed for the corners? Good luck with that ;)

no, you are thinking of solving corners and permuting edges at the same time. that is ZBLL. since the edges are always permuted there would still only be 40 cases, but the algs would suck.

you get props for trying, this is still better than this method

I think you're right there... now that I think off it roux is beginning to look appealing :p.
Also where is a guide for roux?
The only reason I didn't learn it is because it looks confusing (the algs)

It's not the best video but it's where I learned Roux from.
Step 1.

The guy has the rest of the steps on his channel (they're also in related videos).

P.S. - Didn't see that you wanted a none video tutorial, but I'm keeping this up incase someone does :)

P.P.S. - After I read Vault's post, I rethink my case on this new method. At least Mr. LukeMayn tried something (which not many people would do) maybe this method could become optomized without changing back into Roux

If you permute edges before CLL then you will need nearly 80 algs for the last step = all ZBLL where the edges are solved = the cases that needs the most turns on average, worst one is 16 HTM.

You know why I don't like this idea? You spend your preinspection time planning edge orientation, then once you finish the moves to accomplish that, all of the pieces are still everywhere! There are more negatives I could mention but that's the biggest.

Hay guys calm down I've giving up on this method anyway...
PS: I used the EO to make it RUL block building (no cube rotations :p)

Wasn't trying to be mean, just giving my opinion :)

I hardly ever have to rotate the cube during the blocks. RUL Blocks feel nice but what takes away from the speed RUL (F2, B2, and D) provides is the slightly higher move count.

yeah.. oh well. If someone really wanted to take this method through to its extent I think it wouldbe eassily sub 20, but I can't be bothered now... frid is fine *goes onto learning last 20 or so OLL's >.>)
