Before I give my review let me say I am a FII>HMC>AV type of guy

This cube which I am callign to Omega cube to keep it simple is EXTREMELY smooth and buttery. Even more than a FII with shock oil. It's not great at cutting corners (similar to a FII).

The omega cube is less than 5 bucks shipped and the build quality shows. pone of my end caps wasn't perfectly molded. The screws have deep threads which make it a little harder to fine tune, but these are not big issues.

The feel of the omega is GREAT. I have several dozen different types of cubes and this one is definitely in my top 5 to use. I just wish it was a little more springy and snappy like a FII or C4Y. I might be able to accomplish this with a different brand of screws and springs.

Once adjusted well it doesn't pop, but it's not as solid as the FII or the HMC.

One of the most brilliant things about this cube (like the FII) that keeps the cost down is the edges, corners, and centers all use the same end caps. that might not be interesting to you, but as a fan of design I like that they made it with 4 molds (not counting the core). unliek the FII the center pieces are designed to take the caps off easy and the caps stay on all the other pieces well.

bottom line I recommend it. it will take a hundred or so solves to get it worn in and then it will feel great. please don't post a review until yours is worn in.

I don't want to use the brand name cause it's the same brand name as the people that make the alpha cube, but it's a different name. Also popbuying has it listed as a Sheng En which it also is not. no one seems to have a name for this cube that doesn't involve a long explanation.

doesnt look like my F-I as i recall(don't have it on hand so i'm not 100% sure)

the edges have a very basic design, like all the early cubes, and the screws/springs look like that of some of the chinese no-names

something tells me daniel will know exactly what this cube is

yes the Omega cube is a nick name I gave my cube just to make it easier to explain.

In the cube ID thread it has been said to have been made by GuoJia. Not the one that makes alpha cubes, but the one that makes the diamon cube. this is NOT made by Sheng En. you can tell cause it has good stickers ;)

It's a good cube. the more I use it the more I enjoy it.

I tried it with a variety of cores and springs. the type C hardware makes it more snappy. I'm not sure which I prefer. I still say for under 5 bucks shipped it's worth checking out if you like the FII.

hmmm, i got one of these, and its VERY loose, an the screws turn forever (which i gues means the threads is gone?) so i cant tighten it.

But the corner peices and edges are really nice, however i find that the part of the center peice which connects to the core is square, as opposed to circular, which i think causes more problems than it fixes

With a new core/screw/springs i think this cube will be great (Y)

i think the idea of using geek alphabets is already getting old after the Alpha is decided. Plus, the name Omega is already being used.

And this

Personally, I don't like randomly naming a cube (which i used to do before). If I'm to give a cube model or a manufacteror a name, I either uses the prexisting English brand name or simply translate it into English. Though I wouldn't mind if you are just nicknaming it temporarily for the convienence, just to make it easier to discuss in a particular thread, but it then becomes my pet peeves if people then starts calling it that way elsewhere.
