Hello. I got a 3x3x3 cube for about 50p from a church fayre a few months ago and have got really into it. My best time so far is 82 seconds, and I average about 90-100 seconds, sometimes a bit longer. It's a fantastic thing, I love it. I have no doubt that I can get down to under a minute with my current cumbersome method (see below).

Here's my cube:

It's pretty nice, tiles instead of stickers, and moves pretty easily. I don't know what brand it is, but it seems to be fairy good quality. Screws are accessed by flipping off the centre-piece tiles.

I just bought a cheapo eBay 4x4x4, hopefully it will be good enough to mess around with for a bit. It should arrive in a couple of days.

I'll tell you guys what method I use to solve the cube currently:

--Potential spoilers follow!--

I use a really basic method, normally doing it layer-by-layer but by changing the order of the steps it will do for 2x2x2-->2x2x3-->2x3x3-->last layer:

> First layer intuitive
> Second layer edges using R U R U R U' R' U' R' or R' U' R' U' R' U R U R
> Last layer cross using F R U R' U' F and/or f R U R' U' f
> Last layer corner orientation using multiple iterations of R U R' U R U2 R'
> Last layer corner permutation using one or two iterations of R' F R' B2 R F' R' B2 R2
> Last layer edge permutation using R U' R U R U R U' R' U' R2 or its reverse, R2 U R U R' U' R' U' R' U R', depending on which direction the edges should be cycled (the other way would be to just use one of the algorithms but more than once).

bye!
