Hello all,
I've been posting here for a short while now and thought that maybe I should introduce myself better. I'm a close to 24 year-old economics student from Finland. I started cubing for the very first time in the late 2008 with a Rubik's brand cube. My first solve took 20 minutes with a tutorial (by Dan Brown aka pogobat). I then improved slowly until my average stuck up at around 55 seconds with the beginners method. I took quite a long break, I bought better cubes, lost some and found new ones. I learned how to solve big cubes like my eastsheen 4x4 and my V-cube 7x7. I always went back to the 3x3 though.
Around a year ago I found my love for cubing again and started to focus on getting better times. I bought C4U cubes and my times improved all the way to an average of 48 seconds. Popping kept me from getting any good averages, so I made research and found about the dayan guhong V2. I bought a stickerless version and taught myself all the PLL cases, F2L and 2Look OLL. I broke 30 seconds limit and slowly moved towards where I am now.
Atm I average around 20.5 seconds and I'm trying to sub 20 constantly. My PB is 13.87 seconds with a lucky F2L and OLL skip. Atm I'm seriously considering on learning the rest of the OLL algorithms, since I know around 20 as is.
As a cuber I like to focus a lot on the hardware. I want to have the best possible cube so that I can only blame myself for the crappy times. Atm my main is a black DIY Fangshi ShuangRen with Full Bright IZO stickers, Lubix in the core, Maru on the pieces and a C4U core keeping the whole thing together. Soon I'll be Florian/Consta-modding myself a SS v4 and adding Half Bright stickers to it. I'm also interested in how mixing differential oils of different weights works and what is the best possible viscosity for speedcubing.
If someone has tips on how to improve my average please tell, all the help is appreciated. Currently my F2L averages at around 13,5 seconds I think.
See you around!
