Hi All

As a retired (June 2017) Chartered Electronics and Radio Engineer with a very varied career and more time on my hands since retiring, my interest in cubing was reignited when I began to learn some new methods. My preferred option is definitely Roux and I'm a big fan of Kian Mansour. There are a few other notables, i.e. mainly CriticalCubing (still don't know his REAL ID!), Donovan Cline (Pixel 6) and Alex Lau that have contributed to my progress.

I'm really impressed with CubeSolve.es and alg.cubing.net. One of my aims is to try and put some solves up for mainly Roux solvers, since the majority are F2L. There are no instructions on how to post directly onto CubeSolves but I do know how to use alg.cubing.net but haven't posted anything yet! Although I'm keen to get faster (current PB is only 45secs with Roux - using a Rubik's 2nd version cube - not Speedcube - only), I'm more interested in helping others with Roux (and I'm still really a novice!).

My main pastime, apart from cubing is learning to program Android apps!

Hope that's good for an intro.

Cheers, DrEcosse

Welcome! Awesome to hear your interest was reignited during retirement. I studied Electrical Engineering in college - where are you from and where did you work? There are many people retired here and active in the community.

And great to hear another Roux solver here. I've long wanted to get better with Roux (avg around 20 with Roux, 12 with CFOP). I want to get my Roux times closer to my CFOP times.

anyway, glad to have you here.

where are you from and where did you work?
Thanks Pat (Irish?)
I'm from Scotland and there are too many companies to mention but prominent places were Middle East, Scandinavia, Mediterranean countries and of course, the UK.
BTW: I used to work in the UAE with a colleague who lived in Phuket!

Welcome!
P.S. Thanks for choosing android over apple we need more troops XD

Cheers! I am a Samsung fan but my son's a big Apple fan and he has given me his iPad4, so I use that too!
(I never have been a fan of since my
atarilogo.gif
days!) . However, from a programming perspective, I definitely prefer Android.

Thanks Pat (Irish?)

Irish grandparents, but from the USA - have lived out in Asia for nearly 6 years now. Have you been out to Thailand before?

No, I've not been to the Far East only Middle East but I'd like to at some point, if possible.
