getting faster on bigger cubes

i took 3 months break from 4x4 and 5x5 b4 that my times were

4x4-8.xx
5x5-15.xx

what should i do to improve now?is there an advanced method?
oww yeaand my cubes are still rubiks brand.waaa

Since you're a beginner, you might as well buy an ES/QJ 4x4x4, since the Rubik's brand are kinda bad...
