Can we write an instructable on a general algorithm to solve any or most of twisty puzzles?

For example, block building concepts, commutators, parity and etc so we can apply that agnostic algorithm to any twisty puzzle?

it would be an algorithm to tackle any sort of twisty puzzle

EDIT: when I said "algorithm" I don't mean the cubing term but the english word

sledge works on most puzzles

Just commutators + few setup moves work on any non-shapeshifting twisty puzzles. Shapeshifters block some moves occasionally so it gets harder. But maybe some subset of commutators would work.

thanks.

but you can use blockbuilding at the beggining to cut moves and reduce the cube to a state you use just a few commutators to end the solve

ALSO...

some puzzles like fisher cube and mirror blocks are shape shifters but that doesn't make any difference in the way you solve them

other puzzles like square one or others are shape shifters but have bandage properties

then there are jumbling puzzles, that I don't know where they fit exactly

thanks.

Yeah but if you want an universal algorithm you will want to use stuff that works pretty similarly for every puzzle, aka commutators. If you want an efficient algorithm for solving a puzzle you need to make it more specialized but then it wont be universal anymore.

true, bad wording on my part. Should have said something like "puzzles where the set of legal moves changes depending on the state of the puzzle" rather than just shapshifters.
