UGHHH...

So, my folks got me a Revenge and Professor (among other things) for my birthday... I find the 5-Cube to be especially nice because its harder to screw up when solving the centers (of course the tradeoff is that it all takes longer especially edge building). So I've been playing with it, and on my third or fourth solve...

a corner pops right out.

I mean it's completely broken off...

ugh.

Fortunately, for a non-cube-related project, I'll likely be resin-casting some parts, so I'll probably just go ahead and cast another piece for my 5-Cube.

In the meantime, I've ordered a V-Cube 5... can't wait!

Has anyone had terrible experiences with Rubik's brand 5-Cubes? Anyway thanks for reading my rant... ugh...

Yes. They lock up and easily misalign and urgh.. they fail, in my opinion.

I'd rather just use an Eastsheen although it's kind of too small for my hands and locks up once in a while.

V5 for the win! You'll love it once it's broken in.

I really dislike rubik's 4x4 and 5x5. I can't use my professor cube anymore because its so flimsy and pops more than my v6, which is disgraceful.

I have an eastsheen 5x5 that pops like crazy too, but another one that hasn't popped once. I like the size of eastsheens because LL algs are easier to execute, but the performance will never match v-cubes.

Heh.. yea I find Rubik's brand to be pretty fail in general. I mean I got my 3-Cube to be pretty smooth, but not nearly as nice as my Type D. As the self-appointed purveyors of the highest quality, "official" cubes, you'd figure Rubik's would be able to engineer some quality into their products...

But I've heard so many good things about V-Cubes that I couldn't NOT get one, now that I know somewhat kinda more-or-less how to fix the deeper cut cubes.

haha i feel lucky beaacouse when i got my rubik's 5x5 it was nice and smooth haha and it was decent at cutting corners ... and i just receved 2 es 5x5 nice out of the box and smooth.... but my rubik's 5x5 is still my bestest buddy in the world.

Ive never tried a rubiks 5x5 but i had an eastsheen 5x5 and within 4 days it popped completely when i wasnt even solving it and my friend put it together and then it popped again and some kids threw away a piece so it was rendered useless in less than a week and now i have a v cube 5 and its amazing

Did you mess with the 5x5 screws? And how can it pop completely without you using it? Was your friend using it?

And I tried a Rubik's 5x5 at Westchester Fall 2008, and it popped when I did a U turn in like 3 seconds.

Hahah yeah I'm trying to imagine how that would look.. a cube just sitting there, then all of its pieces just shoot off... hmm. Good to hear the V-Cube is amazing though... aah, can't wait.

deco122392: well, I guess you scored!
