I average around 16-17s with a PB of 16.17 average of 10. The thing is, it always takes a very long time of cubing before I get a decent average. 99% of the time i end up restarting averages of start a new average after 2-3 solves cos my times just go like 20,21,18,17,13,16 and bla bla bla..

Do you guys consistently get times around your average?
How do I be more consistent?

I am the EXACT same way (only with much higher times).

When I first wake up I might average around low to mid 40s...
After about 1 hour of practice I'd get down to mid 30s, and only on GOOD days will I get low-30s averages with some sub-30 singles.

Sometimes i think it's my cube..on certain days my cube feels great (normally after washing and lubing) while other days it feels hard to turn..it might affect my eagerness to get good times lol

EDIT: I realised my thread was moved. Did i post it in the wrong section? Cos i thought i posted it in the speedcubing section..sorry!

Yes! I'm the same! When I start a cubing session I get in the low 30's, then after a while (20-30 minutes) I'm down to 23-28.

It's really annoying, because I tend to start 20 minutes-ish before I should be going to bed, but I start getting such good times that I just can't bring myself to stop.

Yes. I sometimes get a 30 second solve, then the very next solve, It is almost 40. I does get frustrating.

I think most people are like that. I think you just need to warm-up, just like in sports, your body won't achieve its full potential until you have properly loosened it up.

WHOA!

Wait up!

Compare the pair:

Averages of 5

16,17,17,17,16 - 17 average

18,20,15,12,16 - 17 average

I personally think that being inconsistent shows you have potential to become faster. You just need to concentrate more to get rid of those higher solves.

I average 13ish and i constantly have High 1.7 SD's

But think of it from an average of 12 point of view (i only care about averages of 12)..I get a 12s solve maybe once in every 70-80 solves while 20s solves can occur 4-5 times on a bad average of 12..which is why i always end up restarting the session
