Fridich to ZZ.

If you want to do the ZZ-VH variant then you will need more then that. There are 6 COLL cases per set (H/U/T/L etc) because each set has different corner permutations.

If you do COLL then you will ahve EPLL (Z/U/H). For OH this is really nice (find OH COLL algs and then you are left with a sexy PLL or skip)

Yeah, for the blockbuilding, i too do that Fridich way. are there any tutorials for doing it faster? I think i would think how to do that by myself, but some help would be nice. xP
ZZ for 5 days now, slows me down for about 20 secs sometimes - mostly eo with more than 4 edges and F2L's last corner(figured how to do it Fridich's style, but i sometimes make mistakes on that )

The tutorial that was posted earlier shows you almost every way you can make a 2x2x1 block after the EOline. Once you make two 2x2x1 blocks you have two pairs left. After you familiarize yourself with the various ways to create the 2x2x1, it's up to you to experiment and practice. It took me a long time get back to the time I was when I used EOcross. I'm still not comfortable with some block building stuff. Sometimes I make an EO line and I don't see anything good lol

i passed from fridrich to zz, started with EOcross but than i realized that its slow, now im avg 20-21
for the 6 edge thing, its not that hard. the best way most of the time is to do it with 3 edges and than 4. its way easier to plan.
8 is just 4-4 10 can be easily turn to 2 cos most of the time you can do 1 move to get 4 bad ones on F and B.
12 is easy

Oh yea OCLL. My bad. What would a full step ZZ solve be?

EO line
Blockbuilding(any sub-steps or order to the blocks?)
OLL
PLL

There are different kinds of ZZ. Several of them the steps are
EO line
Blockbuild (maybe include phasing)
Last layer one alg

I really don't know too much about ZZ other than it's 3-gen and there are very few cube rotations which makes it OH friendly. ZZLL and ZZF2L is all going over my head. I'll take a look at the wiki for some help.

Sorry for the double post but I'm on my iPod and don't want to deal with copy and pasting. I don't need to learn it ever. I could but there are more important things to worry about. I plan on getting sub-20 with 2-Look and then I'm learning full OLL.

fix'd

good plan on sub20 then OLL, though there's no reason you can't start learning some easier OLLs before.

Yea I know that I could but if I can get something like a 19.5 Ao100 with 2-look OLL then once I learn full OLL it will drop at the very least a second assuming my recognition isn't awful. Waiting puts more importance on things like looking ahead.

... I have to place fingers on bad edges to keep track of them...

I divide the cube (mentaly) in 3 slices F,S,B , I gave each possible pattern of bad edges a name (per slice), so I just have to remember the pattern names, when checking the next slice for badies.

I like F,S,B sliceing much more than U,E,D (wich was my first try).

Are there better methods known to do this "Startup"?

The only case that bothers me is the 6 bad/6 good case with 2 of each in F, S, B. Hmmm but there are only 2^3 cases for just EO if you're ok with F2/B2-ing. Yeah, I'll derive algs unless someone has a good intuitive pattern?

Oh and to keep track of bad eges (or good, if bad is more than 6), I use fingers too during inspection and if I don't think of an explicit alg on the spot (about 1/6 of the time) I just burn it into memory and pray for inspiration.

Yea, but if you learn OLL now you can put effort into look ahead later, it's not like it makes any difference when you make it. I don't get why people wait to learn full OLL, it's a pain in the ass, just get it over with. And according to my experience, look ahead isn't something you actively learn, it just comes naturally.

Yea so I'll just work on look ahead now. It doesn't matter when I learn so I'm just choosing to learn it later. Probably sometime during Easter break. I'm in the middle of my sports season so I don't have time to search for good algs and learn them currently. I barely have time to do solves so I'm just trying to do a ton during break.
