Okay, so i don't really know how fewest moves competition work. well i know (FBRULD)2 and FBRULD counts as 1 move and slice moves counts as 2. but ihave a few questions.

1. What method do you guys use to solve ?

2. At competition can you move the scrambled cube ?

3. How can you figure out the solution w/o moving the cube ? or since unlimited stickers can be used you put stickers on your own cube so that it's the same as the scrambled cube and you write down solutions as you move ?

thanks.

I build a 2x2x2 block, expand that to a 2x2x3 block, then add anothor 1x1x2 block (last piece of a cross + 3rd pair), then add the fourth pair while orienting the last layers edges, then do OLL, then PLL.

I try to find moments during those phases were I can insert an extra move to reduce the number of moves that I need to do the next phases shorter. And because I only know a 4 look last layer, I spend a lot of time doing the two steps after the 2x2x3 block to try and get a 1 look OLL and a 1 look PLL.

2. Yes! That is what you do most of the hour. You can even use 3 cubes.

3. You can't really do that in 1 hour. Do a search for "linear fewest moves" or "speed blindfolded" if you would like to try anyway. The stickers are optional and can be used for insertions.

oh, so they give you a scramble? and the scramble is 45 moves ? and u have to find the solution? I see.

so the fewest moves comp. on this forum is the same ?

thanks guys for replying

Why 45 moves? A 3x3x3 scramble is 25 moves long.

i guess the optimal solution is around 20 something moves and if they give you that scramble u can't really find the optimal solution because if u do, then u'd be cheating since it's similar to the scramble.
