[Official] Fail 2x2x2 average at MIT Fall 2010

I am just wonder ing but was that a turn in the inspection phase for the first solve or was it a cube rotation. (0:03) I think it is a cube rotation but it sort of looks some what like a "U" turn.?

Wait..so you can actually scramble in front of the competitor on the spot? Cos' at Malaysia Open we put some effort to make sure the scrambling was quite well hidden from the crowd..

You should have won
i did win 2x2
not the first round :p

for pyra and 2x2, since they have optimal scrambles, which take very little time to do, we just do what's shown here, keeping careful to not let any competititor see the scrambles.

I am doing it here because i was asked to do it using this format. However, i would not do it at one of the competitions i host. I don't feel it speeds anything up, and yes, it feels like more of a risk. Not here in particular, because it is Rowe after all, and if you watch him he usually makes an effort to look away. But of course, not everyone is Rowe.

In order for it to be effective, you'd have to have every timer station going and every judge with a print out. This was not the case.

Optimal scrambles also mean the competitors can see the optimal solutions to each scramble. Also, the scramble sheet is VERY easily visible from the competitor's position, which I think is bad. The scramble sheet could've at least been put on the scrambler's lap or something.

EDIT: Also, it would be hard for a scrambler who's focusing on the cube to notice any competitor peeking at the scramble sheet, IMO.

I noticed that, he seemed to really make sure that he wasn't watching the scramble taking place. Good for him.
