Hi,
I am really interested in having a nice collection of F2L tricks.
so far I can swap or orient two edges. Rama told me how in another topic..

I wanna do corners too!

HOW do I swap two corners?

if you have more of these kinds of tricks,
PLEASE share!

Thanks!

-Sigurd

Swap
Ajacent edges: (R2 U2) x 2 R2
Edges across: B2 U (R2 U2)*3 U' B2
Ajacent corners: D'FUF'-Us'-L'BLB'-FUF'U2-FUF'

Orient
Ajacent edges: F (r U r' U' x3) F'

I made up an alg for the corner swap. I bet its not optimal but at least I like the alg ;)

normally I would solve them as two seperate pairs. it would take me around 20 moves on the fly to solve (intuitive).

however my alg is 16 moves long. D'FUF'-Us'-L'BLB'-FUF'U2-FUF'

what do you think?

well according to Jessicas average the 8 seconds of the F2L does not include the 2 second cross.
an OPTIMAL F2L could be done much faster. Harris Chan is a good example ;)

edit: "8-10 seconds" well the difference is a cross time :P

What is an optimal F2L?
Something nobody will ever be able to do, especially not in speedsolving. I don't know what people mean when they say that, but to me optimal means optimal (as few moves as possible).

People do use the word Optimal loosely!

Harris Chan has an F2L average of 7ish, which I think includes making the cross.

God's Alg is optimal. but to aim for something possible (7)-10 seconds is just reasonable.
English is not my first language (not for many of us).
In danish we use alot of anglish words in general speak. by this I could accidently use some words that doesnt mean what they were intended. sorry

yes I like it too! actually just what I was looking for.
also one of those sites that I havent read again since I first found it. back then I didnt understand much of anything.
@ Dennis do you find much use in these tricks?
comparing to learning basic F2L, how much effort did you put into it?

+ that thread was great too! Dennis, have you got all of those tricks on your site? (too lazy to check right now :))

I try to use the shortcut tricks as much as possible. However, they require alot of training since there are a lot of cases. I have not listed the reflections/mirrors. The main problem is to "see" the shortcut, if the shortct is not in front of my eyes, I do not scan the cube looking for the shortcut, but instead do a standard F2L algorithm. Once I feel really comfortable with all shortcuts (from all angles) I belive I can make really low times. I belive that they are worth learning. Start with the empty slot cases, I belive you have a great advantage of learinng them. As for the "pieces stuck" cases they are infrequent and hard to see fast in regular speed solving.

And, yes, I belive that my list is complete, except for the reflections...

I believe i can find use in empty slots as I solve F2L now. (if you mean solving the corner edge pair using other slots than its own).

How fast can you solve the F2L including the cross? my best times are 12-14 sec

also, you did make a prtiable version of the F2L shotcut table right?
I cant find it on your site :(
