Estimated best time with this knowledge?

I've been learning many many methods and Petrus is the method that got me the best average of 40. After months of cubing, this average has not been going down.

Actually, I'm bad at block building and I did the proof: I did a Petrus solve and a Fridrich solve and the Fridrich solve used way less moves.

The only reason I have not been using Fridrich is because I don't feel like learning all the F2L cases (OLL and PLL does not interest me, my OLL is 2-Look and PLL is A-perm combined with H, Z or U perms, I'm looking for a way to get my F2L faster)

What estimated best times will this knowledge get me:
- I know the cases if the corner is placed (doesn't matter which permutation) and the edge is in the top layer, if it is in the middle layer I put it in the top layer first
- I know the cases if the corner is in the top layer (doesn't matter which permutation) and the edge is in the middle layer
- I know the cases if the corner (doesn't matter which permutation) and the edge (doesn't matter which permutation) are right next to each other

So I know quite a few cases already. For every cases that pops up, I know a way to deal with it. The only case that I cannot deal with is if the corner is in the bottom layer and the edge is directly on top of it in the middle layer.

I don't feel like learning the other ones. After having learned all these methods and algorithms without it making me faster, I'm starting to lose my motivation to learn anymore algorithms.

Fridrich F2L is kind of slow now, but that is because of lack of practice I guess. I kind of know the method and haven't really used it. My cross is okay, not perfect but okay, 7 moves on average.

Will this knowledge get me faster than 40 seconds?

Yes, my suggestion, keep practicing Fridrich F2L, without algorithms. Eventually, you will just figure it out. Do NOT try to just go for speed while your learning, you will slowly get better at it and it will feel more and more natural to the point where you will just fly through F2L with very little thinking required.

There are cases that are slightly less intuitive than others. If you can't find a short solution to some cases, look up the alg. However, practice and internalize the alg so that it becomes intuitive to you. Hope that makes sense.

Badmephisto made a good tutorial on intuitive F2L (that's how I learned). Yeah, your averages are going to suck for a couple of days when you're learning it but once you really get used to it, you'll see a change.
