Hello big cubers out there reading this thread!!!!

I was just wondering how you guys do your pairing. Like how do you make your pairs and how would you find them???? This mostly reflects on 5x5 because I want to find out the most efficient way of edge pairing for it.

This is what I do at the moment:
freeslice, and edge piece starts with the front left top piece of the edge.... if you know what I mean.... so I look at that piece and pretty much, I'll do the colors from that piece :tu

The thing I'm iffy about is how you seem to restrict yourself to the front-left-top wing. This might sound weird, but a more efficient freeslice would be to pair the best pair to pair. Now what the 'best pair to pair' is can differ among solvers, and definitely requires better lookahead/scanning. However, what I'm trying to get at, is that pairing pieces based on that one reference piece would unlikely be that 'best pair to pair'. I'm not saying to always look for the best/easiest pair, but to rather find better ones (on average). Sometimes slow, not-timed, and carefully thought out solves might help.

To put it method-wise, I'd recommend doing freeslice, except more free. :P I personally freeslice around E and once I've chosen some pair I want to do (from anywhere on the cube), I scan U and E. If it's not there (and I didn't screw up), it -must- be on D. I'd do a z2 and finish the pair, look for another pair to do, and repeat that scan until the first 8 edges are done. I'm not saying your approach is a bad one (It definitely would help in decision making when you see multiple potential pairs), but hopefully these considerations help.
