Eastsheen 4x4 assembly?

Long story short- I accidentally took it apart, and aparently you can't reassemble it without unscrewing one of the center caps.
The problem is mine won't unscrew! I've been trying for days. I've had my dad and my brother (who was in the army) try and it will not unscrew for them either.
So now I'm left with a 3/4 assembled unusable Eastsheen 4x4.

Has anyone else had this problem?

You can reassemble it without unscrewing it. I've done it.

Assemble it like normal. On the top layer, assemble the whole thing except two of the edges. Put the edges together and pop them into the cube like you would a 3x3. You'll notice that the inner piece does not want to go in. Use a flathead to pop it into place. Don't be afraid to use force - ES's seem cheap, but they're remarkably durable.

i understand that an eastsheen 4x4 is very similar to a 5x5 and i have a 5x5. what i do is take the whole thing apart and then put the core sitting in a water bottle, assemble the first and second layer, flip is over so it lays on the first and second layer and put the third and fourth layers on. the inner pieces on the fourth layer take ALOT of force to get in at first so i used tape the first time to keep the other pieces from falling out and kind of moved the pieces then set the inner pieces in. i didnt have any problems with tape pealing off the stickers.

You have two options:
1. Assemble it without unscrewing it.
2. Buy a new 4x4, as the newer ones are worlds better than the eastsheen.

I would go with the second choice, given you have money. If you do, I recommend the Dayan+mf8 4x4, the x-cube 4, or shengshou 4x4. They are all good and I suggest that you look into either of the three.

i have the exact same problem just unscrew it normally but put inwards force to the screw

exactly what the others have said, just force the last few pieces in eastsheens wont break they are incredibly durable ...
when i replaced my eastsheen with another eastsheen i tried to destroy the old one beyond recognition, it took me several hard blows with a mallet before the core eventually snapped, but none of the pieces would break, only the core

no, the 4x4 core has a little box to keep the mecch in alignment, the 5x5 doesn't
