I've had this ES 2x2 for awhile, a few months now and average about 10-11 with, even with Ortega. I think the problem is that the cube jams too much, and it takes me almost 7 seconds for a y perm which I can do in sub 3 on my 3x3. I heard about somebody changing theirs into a spring (something?) mechanism which helped theirs a lot.

Anybody have any ideas on how to improve mine? Or should I order another

I have an ES 2X2 myself... it is a wonderful cube.
Do you line up properly?
Lubing could help but i don't think it is necessary.

Everything but my 3x3s seem to get worse after lubing, no idea if it's just my luck or if its liquid wrench.

it's the liquid wrench! get rid of that and buy CRC! i've been using that stuff and it's terrible. i picked up some CRC, and now i'm never touching the liquid wrench again. you can get some at walmart.

Actually, lubing an eastsheen wouldn't really do much since the actual mechanism where all the friction would be is completely enclosed. You can get at the mechanism but you'd have to take off two of the cubie shells (which is a *****) and open the mechanism inside for the lube to have any effect.

I did a screw/spring mod to mine and it's a night-and-day difference. The only bad part is that when it pops it'll pop on the inside and it can be difficult to find the pop to push it back in.

I cant really get to a walmart unfortunately, and I really want CRC but all I can find here is the crappy liquid wrench.
