Hi, i can solve a rubik's cube using a layer by layer solution, but now i want to do a fast and easy method. The fridrich method is hard for me to understand, so i want to learn the easiest speedcubing method there is watever it may be. Video links would be great by the way.

fridrich is pretty easy... try checking out Roux, but i doubt you will find it easier... Maybe try looking into Petrus as well? I don't think you will find anything fast enough that will be much simpler than Fridrich...

what part of Fridrich do you find hard in particular? Maybe we can help you out. There are a few good F2L tutorials on youtube, and I have one as well, just search F2L Cube or something you will get some of them. You should understand them just a few weeks after learning to solve the Layer By Layer quite easily.

You actually find the keyhole method to be faster? That is how I first learned to solve, and I thought that Fridrich is significantly faster. Maybe it's just me...

Arnaud meant that it's faster than layer-by-layer, not necessarily faster than Fridrich. It is a good steppipng stone from layer by layer to Fridrich though. That's the method I learned too (for Joel's site) when I was beginner.

Is Keyhole any faster than inserting Corner/Edge pairs at the same time with one algorithm?

I can't be stuffed noting down 100 or so F2L solves with my method and then doing the same with Keyhole to make the comparison. Has anyone else compared it?

Arnauds tutorial was good though, it made me think about how I'm doing my cross. I've always focused around constructing a cross around the center pieces. I guess I can save a few moves if I memorise the RYOG color scheme to make a white cross in any position and then just do a D move to align it. :-)

Tim.

I don't think that Arnaud is comparing the speeds of Fridrich f2l vs. Keyhole. He just said that keyhole is a step between the layer by layer method and full fridrich f2l. Just like 2 look OLL is a step to 1 look.

I think this is the order of speed (slow to fast)
Layer-by-Layer
Keyhole
(Intuitive) F2L

Intuitive F2L takes a while to learn. Keyhole is much easier to learn. So if you spent 1 week on intuitive F2L and 1 week on keyhole, you are probably going to be faster with keyhole.

In my case it is quite extreme. I have been spending so much time with keyhole that I am still faster with keyhole then with F2L.

And I have noticed that using keyhole is indeed a very good way to practice for cross and X-Cross and even for "unmatched pairs".
