Bad Habit?

hey whats up i just decided to post this cuz i think if it is a bad habit it can help beginners to get better times. so the habit is looking at the timer while solving, sometimes while im solving and i finish f2l i find myself looking at the timer and the speeding up the oll and pll, is it bad, do you think it can make you lose time.:D i average like 30 secs , sometimes i get like 26,25 secs but i think i average 30.

I'd say that for beginners the time lost looking at the timer is almost negligible, perhaps like 1-2 seconds at the most? And if F2L is already completed, then you dont really need to keep constant eye-contact with the cube for lookahead, especially if you have already recognised and in the process of executing your OLL alg. But yeah, as you get faster, every little pause will add up and in the end, its best to get rid of them as soon as you can.

Yeah you could look, but why look? Youd get the roughly same times.
I sometimes peek at it when i think i get a fast f2l and i do ONLY look at it during the middle of an alg (OLL?), where the peek only takes at most 0.5 sec
when im finishing off the alg I couldnt look as I need to lookahead to pll or AUF

On qqTimer, you can set the timer to not show while you're solving, and only display the time once the timer has stopped. This got me out of the habit, and now I no longer look at it. I've since switched to Prisma, where this isn't an option, but since I don't look up it doesn't matter any more.

i tend to do it on 4x4, when i finish edge pairing, just to see how much time i got left b4 cutoff. i shouldnt do this though... wasting me precious time.

I never check. I dunno, I just never thought of peeking. I'm sure, as people have said earlier, that it just gets you all nervous and causes severe lockups during PLL.

I must admit that I usually check the timer when i just get done with F2L. I know its not a good habit but its so hard to resist.
