Hey all. I run a small cubing club that has comps once a month. Problem is the slower cubers can get disheartened when facing faster members. To make it a bit even, I was thinking about putting cubers into divisions based on their average times. Just wondering what peoples thoughts on with the following

Division 1 sub 10
Division 2 sub 20
Division 3 sub 30
Division 4 sub 40
Division 5 everything else

Would it be better maybe sub 15 for division 1? Suggestions please.

The gap between sub 20 and sub 10 is huge. Sub 15 would make the division fairer, and if nobody is sub 15 yet then there's no need (yet) for any further divisions. Ideally you'd have something like sub 8/10/12/15/20/30/45 but odds are not very many people would get into the faster half of those divisions

I would probably split like:
45+ / sub 45 / sub 30 / sub 25 / sub 20 / sub 15 / sub 12 / sub 10
But that's quite a lot of divisions (although there's no need for sub 10 is nobody is sub 10, and I doubt many would be so they wouldn't get to compete)
However, lots of divisons could be helpful to provide an incentive to improve.
