Hey, so I am pretty new to speed solving and a friend of mine gave me a used Dayan to help me get started, but I was wondering if there was a way for me to tell which Dayan it was so I can compare it to some reviews and see if I want to get a new one of the same type. Thanks in advance :)

I think that the most popular are the zhanchi and guhong. all i know is the difference between them. there are ridges on the inner sides of the edges on the zhanchi, whereas the guhong has flat inner sides, zhanchi corners have a characteristic bulge in the stem kimda thing. if there are no "torpedos" i thinkthat means its an older one

i think this would help you: the edgedetail and cornerdetail of some dayans
Thank you so much. that is exactly what I needed. I have a Lunhui.

I am going to ask this here so I don't create a new thread. Do you have any recommendation for my next cube. I know there is a lot of threads about this, my problem is I pop my lunhui a lot, and I don't see many people saying its a poppy cube. So I don't know if its me or not, and I want to get a cube that won't pop on me as much. I was thinking maybe a modded Guhong from thecubicle (A small Kittens shop)

What do you average? Honestly, I'd stick with the LunHui until you get to around 30-45 second average, then consider a guhong or zhanchi. If it's popping too much, tighten it, or check if there are torpedos on the edges.

Take out the torpedoes. You either use none or use a full set.

A Dayan Guhong or Zhanchi are supposed to be much smoother than the LunHui, but it probably won't increase your time much. It'll just feel better.

There's actually no reason why you shouldn't switch (if desired) right now. It's widely accepted (from my observations) that using a good cube with mediocre times is actually a good thing.

Alright thanks :) I forgot to mention, the reason why I liked the idea of getting the Guhong is that I have a stickerless Guhong v1 that I love, but its illegal in competitions >.> . I probably wont be able to order the cube for about a month, so I hope to know enough ZZ by them to cut my time :)
